The Ministry of Trade (MoT) has decided to delay for a month the implementation of a new coal export policy, which requires miners to be registered with the ministry to be allowed to make export.

The new policy was supposed to be effective September 1, but the MoT has delayed it to October 1 to give more time for coal miners to prepare the necessary requirements to obtain the registered exporter status.

According to the MoT policy, miners must first obtain recommendation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) to be able to apply for the registered exporter status.

The MEMR, meanwhile, has also set a number of requirements that must be met by the miners to get the recommendation including having a clean and clear mining permit as well as proof of tax and royalty payment. (*)
