Following the recent issuance of a revised regulation on the mandatory use of biofuel in liquid form, the government is currently drafting new rulings on the mandatory use of biofuel in the forms of solid and gas, Kontan daily reported Tuesday.
The paper quoted Dadan Kusdiana, Director of Bioenergy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, as saying that the new rulings are expected to be issued this year.
Under the new ruling on the mandatory use of biofuel in solid form, coal-fired power plants will be obliged to mix briquette made up of coconut shell or other vegetation products in the fuel used to fire-up the plants.
He said that according to the government?s plan, starting 2015, briquette will account for 2 percent in the energy mix of coal-fired power plants, and to increase to 5 percent in 2020. (*)
