Govt drafts two regulations on geothermal development

The government is drafting two new regulations on geothermal development in the country as part of implementing regulations of the new Geothermal Law, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.

The paper quoted Director General of New and Renewable Energy, Rida Mulyana as saying that the two new regulations are expected to be issued in January of next year.

Rida said the first regulation will be on the arrangement of special production bonus for regional governments, which will be a kind of incentive for the local administrations to facilitate geothermal development in their respective regions.

The second will be on the direct and indirect utilization of geothermal resources.

?These two regulations will be the priority,? Rida said, adding that the regulations will require the approval of the House of Representatives. (*)
