Govt in talks with oil and gas producing areas on participating interest

Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is currently holding discussions with the oil and gas producing areas regarding the draft ministerial regulation on their participating interest in the oil and gas blocks.

"The draft of the ministerial regulation is being finalized by the ministry (of Energy and Mineral Resources), and is now being communicated with oil and gas producing areas so as to get input from them," said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said.

He noted the regulation is intended to provide oil and gas producing areas with maximum benefit by having a participating interest in the blocks.

"Once the discussion with the oil and gas producing areas has been completed, the regulation will be signed and issued thereafter," he said.
