Govt increases electricity price from biomass power plant

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has increased the price of electricity (or feed in tariff) produced by biomass and biogas power plants in a bid to help lure new investment into the sector, said Director General of New and Renewable Energy at the ministry, Rida Mulyana.

Rida said on Wednesday that the feed in tariff of biogas power plant has been increased to Rp 1,150-1,500 per kWh, while the tariff of biomass power plant has been raised to Rp 1,050-Rp 1,400 per kWh as stipulated under the new Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No 27/2014, which replaces Regulation No 4/2012.

Rida was speaking to reporters at the launch of the new regulation, aimed at providing incentives for private investment in the biomass and biogas power plant development. (*)
