Govt issues long awaited upstream, and downstream regulations

The government said Sunday outgoing president Megawati Soekarnopoetri had finally signed two decrees gopvernmental regulations on the upstream and downstream oil and gas industries on Thursday.

"The decrees on the oil and gas upstream and downstream industries has been issued," Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said.

The minister said the two decrees dealt with business regulations in the oil and gas sector, including the processing of licenses.

Through the issuance of the two decrees, the upstream and downstream oil and gas industries should be more attractive to investors, Purnomo said.(godang)
