The Forestry Ministry has issued a new regulation on the use of forest areas for non-forestry activities as part of the implementation of the Government Regulation No 61/2012 on the revision of the Government Regulation No 24/2010 on the use of forest areas.
Director General of Planology at the Forestry Ministry Bambang Soepijanto said that the Forestry Minister?s decree on guideline on the issuance of forest use permits would replace the previous ruling on forest use permit.
Bambang said that the new regulation set a limit the issuance of forest-use permits. ?This is the crucial point in the new regulation,? he said.
Under the Forestry Minister?s new regulation, the forest areas for forest-use permits for production activities will be given to applicants gradually, Bambang said. He, however, added that the new regulation would not affect the forest use permits which have already been issued by the ministry.
