The government may conduct investigative audits on oil and gas company Pertamina and electricity company PLN to discover the people responsible for the efficiencies in both state companies, Berita Buana reported.

The paper quoted director general of financial institutions at the Ministry of Finance Darmin Nasution as saying on Saturday that the investigative audit plans would be included in the letter of intent between the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"In principle, there is such a plan and it will be put in the letter of intent (between the government and IM). But for the moment, we are not heading to the direction as we are now moving to the special audit of (state telecommunication company) Telkom, (state plantation company) PT Perkebunan, (state toll road company) PT Jasa Marga, and (state port company) PT Pelindo," Darmin said.

As part of the agreement with IMF, the government had hired international auditors to audit the inefficiencies in Pertamina and PLN, but the audits did not try to find the people responsible for the inefficiencies. (*)
