Indonesia is exploring the possibility of purchasing 18 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Oman in 2006 to meet the natural gas needs of fertilizer producers in Aceh, including the Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) fertilizer firm.

?We will discuss the planned purchase of the 18 cargoes with the government of Oman. The price is certainly negotiable,? Chief of the oil and gas upstream authority BPMIGAS Kardaya Warnika said on the sidelines of a visit to a gas pipeline being repaired in Muara Karang, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Kardaya said the talk on the planned purchase was conducted by People?s Welfare Coordinating Minister Alwi Shihab and the Oman oil minister. (godang)
