Govt, NAA to sign termination agreement today

Minister of Industry MS Hidayat said that the government and the Nippon Asahan Aluminium (NAA) are scheduled to sign today (Monday) an agreement for the termination of the latter?s contract in running PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum), Southeast Asia?s only aluminum smelter.

Hidayat was quoted by Tempo daily as saying that one of the major points of the termination agreement, is the transfer price of NAA shares in Inalum to the government, which has been set at US$556.7 million.

The signing ceremony, to be held at the Ministry of Industry, will be attended by NAA President, who is also CEO of Sumitomo Chemical, Yoshihiko Okamoto, while representing the government will be Hidayat, Minister of Finance Chatib Basri, and Minister of State Owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan. (*)
