The government?s non-tax revenue from the mining sector as of May of this year jumped by more than 55 percent to Rp 14 trillion compared to only Rp 9 trillion in the same period of last year, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources R. Sukhyar as saying that the revenue only came from coal commodity as there was no revenue from the mineral commodities following the introduction of the mineral ores export ban in January of this year.

?Despite the decline in coal prices, the non-tax revenue increases,? Sukhyar said, pointing out that the increase was due to the increasing compliance of miners in paying royalty to the government.

The 2014 state budget has set non-tax revenue target of Rp 39 trillion, up from Rp 33.1 trillion last year.(*)
