Govt offers 21 oil and gas blocks in 2016

The government has set a target of offering 21 oil and gas blocks through tenders in 2016, consisting of 13 conventional oil and gas blocks and 8 non-conventional oil and gas blocks.

This was said by Director General of Oil and Gas IGN Wiratmadja on Tuesday during a hearing with the House of Representatives? Commission VII which is in charge of energy affairs.

He said of the 13 conventional oil and gas blocks, eight will be offered through regular tender, five through direct-offer tender or joint study. The blocks that will be offered through regular tender are SE Mandar, Tomini Bay I, Tomini Bay II, Tomini Bay III, Tomini Bay IV, Gorontalo Tomini I, West Misool and Merauke; while the blocks that will be offered through direct-offer tender or joint study are Batu Gajah Dua, Bukit Barat, West Bengara, East Kendito and Ebuny.

The 9 unconventional oil and gas blocks includes three shale gas blocks, namely Area Jambi, Area Sumteng Timur andArea Sumteng Tenggara; and five coal bed methane (CBM) blocks, namely Area Raja, Area Sumbagsel, Area Bunga Mas, Area West Air Komering and Area South Bengara.
