Govt pins hope on oil output from 10 contractors

The government is pinning high hope on crude oil output from 10 oil and gas contractors to reach the 2008 budget target of 1.034 million barrels oil per day (mbopd).
Upstream oil and gas regulatory body, BPMIGAS’ deputy head Abdul Muin said that efforts would also be made to contain further decline of oil output from the existing fields. “The oil produced by 10 cooperation contract contractors (KKKS) reaches 828,000 bpd or 80.1 percent of the 2008 budget target of 1.034 mbopd,” he said in a working meeting between Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro and House of Representatives’ commission VII in
The 10 contractors are PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia with oil output totalling 376,300 bpd, PT Pertamina EP with a total output of of 135,600 bpd; ConocoPhillips SNSB 59.400 bpd; Inpex 47,900 bpd; national Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) 47900 bpd; Total Indonesia 45,000 bpd; Medco EP Rimau 31,800 bpd; BP ONWJ 31,000 bpd; BOB CPP 28,000 bpd; and Pertamina Hulu-PPI/JOA-JOB 25,100 bpd.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said that it was possible that the oil output (from the 10 contractors) could not meet the target. He asserted, however, that the government tried hard to minimize the possibility. “I have called the operators and BP Migas and told them that we will try to see the figure in a realistic way. This is our best effort,” he said. (godang)
