The government aims to push for the development of 33 new hydro power plants, hopefully starting this year, outside Java to help increase power supply in the country, Kontan reported on Tuesday.
The paper quoted Dony Azdan, a director at the National Development and Planning Agency (Bappenas), as saying that the 33 hydro power plants are expected to have a combined capacity of 2,300 MW.
Total investment requirement is estimated at around Rp 33 trillion, he said, adding that the projects will also involve the Ministry of Public Works and state-owned power firm PT PLN. (*)
