Govt plans to revise geothermal law

The Directorate General for Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the Ministry of Energy is currently making preparation to amend the Geothermal Law No 27/2003.

?We?re making preparation to revise the geothermal law. The essence of the (proposed) revision is for it (the law) can be better implemented,? Director General for Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Rida Mulyana told Petromindo.com

Rida said that under the revised version, the term ?mining? in the text will be replaced with ?geothermal activity.?

?We?re currently communicating the revision of the law to various parties including the Ministry of Forestry,? Rida said, while adding that regarding the price of geothermal power, the directorate has been in talks with the Ministry of Finance?s Fiscal Policy Agency (BKP). ?BKF has requested for more time to review (the proposed revision),? Rida said.
