Govt program for 10,000 MW remains immature: APBI

The Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI) viewed the planned construction of coal-fired power plants to provide additional power supply of 10,000 megawatts under the government?s crash program as immature, saying that technical matters regarding the implementation of the project had yet to be prepared, Koran Tempo reported Monday.
?For instance, where a power plant in a region will get coal supply and how the coal will be transported (has not been explained yet,? said APBI?s head Jeffrey Mulyono said in Jakarta over the weekend.
According to Jeffrey, the state-owned electricity company PT PLN should be in charge of technical matters.
He suggested that it would be better for a would-be power plant located in Java to get coal supply from coal suppliers located around where the power plant was operating.
Locations of the coal mining and the power plant have an effect on the transportation cost. ?PLN as a (coal) purchaser and coal producers should meet to discuss the technical matters regarding the shipment,? he said. (*)
