Govt proposes 25 percent increase in fuel prices

The government has proposed a 25 percent increase in fuel prices in 2002, and 18.11 percent rise in electricity tariff as part of efforts to reduce subsidy and ease the burden of the state budget.
A source said that the government had made the proposal during a deliberation of the 2002 state budget draft with the parliament budget committee.
The source said that the 18.11 percent increase in electricity tariff would be made gradually or 5.2 percent in every three months.(Arry)
