Government revised Ministry Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 7/2012 about the reduction of zeolite cation exchange capacity (CEC) from 100 miliequivalent (meq) to 80 meq. The reduction gives better opportunity for exporting the zeolite, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.
Head of Indonesia Zeolite Association Suwandi said that the previous regulation of CEC 100 meq aggravated the related companies. "The revision of CEC to 80 meq eases our burden," he said on Tuesday.
Zeolite in fertilizer can bind soil nutrients and slowly release the nutrients back to the soil for the plants.
Director Mineral Business Development Dede Ida Suhendra said that CEC standard is needed in zeolite. "It will be just dirt if there is no CEC standard," he said. (*)
