Govt?s review team will not revise Freeport?s royalty

Coordinating Minister of Economy Boediono has promised that the team established by the government to review the contract of works of PT Freeport will not propose for a revision in the copper and gold giant’s royalties, Kontan reported Tuesday.

 

Boediono said that the team would not recommend for a change in the contract. “The contract will not be changed, but will be improved,” he said, adding that the team was established to study the contract before the government began to carry out renegotiation with Freeport .

 

The team led by Boediono and with members including his deputy Wimpie S. Cecep has begun its review on Freeport ’s contract. The team will then issue a recommendation directly to the President. (*)
