The head of the team, Slamet Singgih said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the eight companies had bought the subsidized fuel from unauthorized sources to take the advantage of the price disparity.
The government has removed the subsidy of fuel sold to mining companies, manufacturing industries and ship owners in a bid to cope with the sharp increase in the fuel subsidy. However, many companies violated the regulation by buying the subsidized fuel from unauthorized sources.
According to Slamet the eight companies bought the subsidized fuel at a price of between Rp 2,200 and Rp 3,000 per litter, far below the normal price of non-subsidized fuel which reaches about Rp 5,480 per litter.
The eight companies include PT Dew Mayang Manik in Bogor, PT Manik Haya I and II, also in Bogor, PT Darisa in Tangerang, PT Barajaya Utama in Berau, East Kalimantan, PT Sapta Indra Sejati, also in Berau, PT Tiger Makmur in Solo, CV Bengawan Solo, also in Solo and PT Dongsan in Bekasi.
The team also unveiled that shipping line MT Benua Raya III had also smuggled about 1,000 kiloliters of diesel oil to Timor Leste, causing a loss to the state of about Rp 3.38 billion. (dino)
