Govt secures gas supply for transportation

The government said that it will secure gas supply at 35.5 MMSCFD for transportation need in several cities this year.
The energy and mineral resources ministry?s Oil and Gas Director General A. Edy Hermantoro said that for that purpose this year the government will build four units of gas refueling stations (SPBG) in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. In Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta), it will build CNG refueling stations--one unit of mother station (MS) and four units of mobile refueling unit (MRU) worth Rp 127 billion, 2 units of SPBG online, infrastructure of gas pipeline with a length of 22.2 kilometer worth Rp 474 billion.
Speaking during a meeting to discuss about the oil fuel (BBM) conversion to gas in Jakarta on Wednesday, he said that for Jabodetabek the government would allocate the MRU and MS in locations near to or passed by Transjakarta buses. The locations include Cibubur, Cilandak, and Lebak Bulus.
?We follow the development of busway transportation. The MRU and MS will be placed in the bus locations,? said Edy.
The development of SPBG and pipeline for Jabodetabek will be conducted by the ministry of energy and mineral resources, in cooperation with state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina. For Balikpapan, it will be implemented by the ministry alone.
During the meeting, PT Medco Energy made a presentation on its success in converting the use of oil fuels (BBM) to gas for its 23 employee shuttle buses, allowing it to save up Rp 195 million per year.
Medco has also used CNG for its operational vehicles in Rimau/Kaji Block and SCS/Soka Block in South Sumatera.
Also present during the meeting were representatives from the transportation ministry, industrial ministry, Jakarta administration, PT Pertamina, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT Total Indonesie, and other institutions concerned.
