The government has set the ceiling price of Premium gasoline at Rp 6,000 per liter in line with a new policy to float the price of the fuel in line with international price, Kontan reported Friday.
Under the new pricing policy stated in the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister?s decree No. 38/2008 dated Dec. 1, 2008, the price of the Premium gasoline will be adjusted monthly to the international price level beginning January, next year.
The ministry?s director general of oil and gas Evita Legowo said in Jakarta on Thursday that at the current price, Premium gasoline is no longer subsidized. The government will only subsidize the sale of the fuel if its price on the international market exceeds Rp 6,000 per liter.
The government will however continue to subsidize the sale of diesel fuel and the liquefied petroleum gas (LGP) in 3-kg container and kerosene. (*)
