Govt sets coal export tax benchmark price for May-June

The government has set benchmark price for coal export tax at US$31.5 per tone for May 10-to June 9, 2006 period, or lower than previous period benchmark of $34 per tone.

Under the coal tax regime, exporters must pay 5 percent tax based on benchmark price regardless of actual selling price.(alex)
