Govt sets prices of wastes-based electricity

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik has issued a ministerial regulation No.19/2013, on the purchase made by state utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) of power generated from city wastes
Based on the new regulation, the price of power generated with the zero-waste technology at the capacity of up to 10 megawatt (MW), is set at Rp 1,450 per kWh, if connected with medium voltage grid system, and Rp 1,798 per kWh if connected with low voltage grid system.
The price of power generated with the sanitary landfill technology, with a maximum capacity of 10 MW, is set at Rp 1,250 per kWh if connected with medium voltage grid system, and Rp 1,598 per kWh if connected with low voltage system.
Based on the regulation, the price of electricity generated by wastes-based power plants with capacity more than 10 MW is based on the agreement reached by PLN and the independent power producers. The power purchase price has included all costs of interconnection from the power plants to a point of power grid owned by PLN.
All of the power purchase contracts will last for 20 years.
