Govt signs 9 CBM contracts, 5 oil, gas contracts

The nine CBM contracts include three contracts over areas that overlap with the existing oil and gas blocks and coal mining concessions, and six contracts over areas that were ?directly offered? to investors in a tender held from Jan. 10 through Feb. 23, 2011, The winners of the direct offer tender was announced on March 18, 2011.
The three CBM working areas that overlap with the existing oil and gas blocks and coal mining concessions are GMB Tanjung IV, GM Muara Enim II and GMB Muara Enim III. The six other geothermal working areas are GMB Kapuas I, GMB Kapuas II, GMB Kapuas III, GMB Kutai Timur, GMB Kutai Barat, GBM Sijunjung.
The companies that received the contracts include PT Pertamina, PT Bukit Asam, BP and Total. The nine contract holders are committed to investing up to US$42 million for G&G studies, corehole drilling, exploration drilling and new production well tests; and pay a total of $11.3 million in signature bonus.
Meanwhile, the five oil and gas contracts signed on Friday were awarded to Lundin Gurita BV for Gurita block offshore Riau Archipelago; Techwin Energy South Betung Limited (South Betung block offshore Jambi, South Sumatra); Cooper Energy Ltd (Sumbagsel block onshore South Sumatra); PT Schinta Marquisa (Marquisa block onshore North Sumatra) and PT Mandiri Panca Usaha (Sembilang block, offshore Natuna).
The five firms have investment commitment totaling $26.6 million for G&G studies, 2D and 3D surveys, exploration well drilling, GGR studies, Surface Facility Study and Detailed Design Surface Facility and Well Reactivation. They pay the government $5.6 in signature bonus. (Godang)
