Govt submits new names to replace BPMIGAS? head

The government has proposed to the House of Representative (DPR) three names for the top position in oil and gas upstream authority BPMIGAS replacing the current head Kardaya Warnika.

The three are R. Priyono, currently Director of Upstream Business Affairs at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Evita H. Legowo, an expert staff at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Hadi Purnomo, the head of the ministry's research and development center Lemigas, Tjatur Sapto Edy, a member of the House of Representatives' Commission VII for energy and environmental affairs, said on Wednesday.

According to Tjatur, the three candidates were proposed by the government in a letter recently sent by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro to the House's speaker Agung Laksono.

Purnomo confirmed to Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that he had proposed three names to become BPMIGAS's chairman but he refused to unveil the names.

According to Tjatur, the House will hold a plenary meeting to discuss the three proposed names next week before allowing the House? Commission VII to conduct a fit and proper test on the candidates. Under the existing law, the government proposes candidates for BPMIGAS chairman and the House will select the best candidate.(godang)
