The government targets to sign 20 oil and gas production sharing contracts (PSCs) and 10 coal bed methane (CBM) this year as a move to speed up development of oil and gas projects in the country, the energy ministry said in a press statement.
Evita H. Legowo, Director General for Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources, said the number of new contracts signed this year could increase.
She said most of the new Working Areas (WKs) to be offered this year will be located in eastern Indonesia, in particular WKs that will be offered through regular tender mechanism.
In 2011, the government signed 27 PSCs and 19 CBM contracts, higher than target of 30 contracts.
