Govt terminates contract of 3 exploration blocks

Government has terminated contract of three exploration blocks after six years of exploration period, contractors failed to make discovery in their respective working area, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Gde Pradnyana was quoted by media as saying that the three blocks are Bawean block offshore East Java operated by Husky Energy, Asmat bloxk in Papua operated by Indonesia Papua Petroleum and Yapen block, also in Papua operated by Nations Petroleum.

Beside the three blocks, BPMIGAS has also proposed to the government contract termination of Halmahera Block operated by MCube Petroleum and Rembang Block in Central Java operated by Orna International. (*)
