According to the ministry of energy and mineral resources, BIM has proposed the termination of its mining right over the Central Kalimamtan concession as the feasibility study showed the concession had no economic mineral (gold) reserves.
BIM has returned the 36,628-ha mineral concession to government, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the government has terminated Nusaminera?s coal mining right over the East Kalimantan concession because of several reasons, including the firm's failure to deliver activity report to the government. The ministry said the company had been warned of its obligations earlier.
Nusaminera's 21,470-ha concession is located in Kutai Kartanegara regency and Samarinda city. The concession was awarded to the firm by the government in 1994.
According to the ministry?s data, the concession is believed to contain around 49.39 million tons of coal resources with calorific value of between 4,378 and 5,018 kcal/kg. (Robert)
