Govt tightens rule on tin ore domestic shipment

The government has issued a tighter rule on shipment of tin ore from the Bangka Belitung (
Head of Babel’s mining and energy office Amrullah Harun said under the Minister of Trade decree, companies that were allowed to conduct inter-island shipment of tin ore are those that had been awarded with a license called Permit for Inter-Island Shipment of Tin Ore (SPPBAP) issued by the regency or mayoralty’s trade office.
In order to obtain the permit, the companies have to meet several requirements, including that they have kontrak pertambangan (mining permits) or contract of works (CoW).
They also have to show documents proving that they have a sales agreement with smelters in the islands where they plan to ship their tin ore. Besides, they have to secure a letter of recommendation from the trade office of the mayoralty or regency where smelters are located. Upon arriving on the island where the smelters are located, they also have to report to the local trade office.
