The government will accelerate the negotiation process over power purchase contract with independent power producer PT Paiton Energy, the Tempo daily quoted a source as saying.

The paper said Tuesday that the government expected a long-term agreement between state electricity company PLN and Paiton could be reached before President Megawati Soekarnoputri started a visit to the U.S. this month.

The source added that there was possibility that the government and PLN might finally agreed to Paiton?s price proposal of 4.8-4.9 U.S. cent per kilo watt hour.
