The government will likely allow South Kalimantan coal miner PT. Arutmin Indonesia to resume construction of its underground coal mining after the latter proposed new method that the government considered safer, a government official said.

S. Witoro, a senior official with the ministry of energy and mineral resources told Petromindo.com that the Arutmin had presented the plan and approval to continue the construction would soon be issued.

Two workers died last November in Arutmin?s Satui mine after the tunnel that was being constructed in an underground mine collapsed. The incident halted the underground mine?s development.

Arutmin is a unit of JSX-listed coal mining house PT. Bumi Resources. (godang)
