The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is set to announce next week another batch of mining companies which have obtained the so-called clean and clear (C&C) status for their IUP mining business permits.

This was said by ministry?s Head of Legal Bureau, Haryanto (one name) on Friday.

He said that the ministry has received a list of 1,080 mining companies recommended by governors in mining regions to get the C&C status for their IUPs. But Haryanto said that following verification by the ministry, only about 100 firms will get the C&C certification.

He said that the ministry will make further verification process of the remaining firms before giving the C&C status or declaring as non-C&C status.

Companies with problematic IUPs (non-C&C status) are primarily either because their concessions overlap with that of other miners or forest areas, or they have yet to fulfill financial obligations to the state.

Former minister of energy and mineral resources Sudirman Said stated July 21 that of the total 10,388 IUPs, as many as 6,365 IUPs have received the C&C status. Of the remaining 4,024 IUPs which have yet to get the C&C status, the governors have recommended 1,080 to get the C&C status, but after verification by the ministry, only 187 are eligible to get the status.

The governors have recently revoked 534 IUPs which have been declared to be non-C&C.
