Govt to announce exploration blocks winners

Government said on Wednesday it will announce the award of 32 exploration blocks including 2 CBM blocks this month.

Director general of Oil and gas Evita Legowo told reporters that 22 of the blocks would be awarded through direct offer mechanism and 8 through regular tender. 2 CBM exploration block, which are located in Sumatra and Kalimantan, would be awarded to local investors, she said.

Evita said only two oil majors are among the winners, including US giant Chevron Corp. A government official who declined to be named told Petromindo.Com that Chevron would be awarded an exploration block in West Papua called Kamrau. (godang)
