The government will on Wednesday announce the resumption of large power projects and others which were suspended in 1998 after Indonesia was hit by severe financial crisis, according to Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti.

To be resumed include the development of Paiton I and Paiton II power projects in East Java, Dorodjatun told reporters on Monday as reported by Satunet.com news website.

Dorodjatun said earlier the development of Tanjung Jati B power plant in Central Java would also be resumed.

The government in 1998 suspended the development of 27 power plants and other large projects due to seriously strained national budget following the severe financial crisis. (*)
