Govt to build 11 new compressed natural gas stations in Jakarta this year

The government this year plans to build 11 new stations for distribution of compressed natural gas for use by motor vehicles in Jakarta, as part of the government?s program to further expand the gas distribution networks in the capital, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.

Umi Asngadah, the director for downstream business at the directorate general of oil and gas at the energy and mineral resources ministry, said that as many as nine gas stations have so far been built and operated within Jakarta.

Umi said that two of the 11 stations would be built by Pertamina with its own funds, while the other nine stations would be built with funds from the state budget.

The government has allocated Rp 474 billion in the 2013 state budget for the construction of gas distribution facilities. The government will also use about Rp 127 billion from the state budget-optimalization fund for the construction of a mother gas station and four daughter gas stations. (*)
