Govt to build 2,030-MW hydro power plants

The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is preparing for the development of two hydro power plants with combined capacity of 2,030 megawatt as part of the second 10,000 megawatt fast track power plant development program.

The ministry said in its website that the two hydropower plant projects would include PLTA Upper Cisokan in West Java and PLTA Simpang Alur in South Sumatra which would have capacity of 2,000 megawatt and 30 megawatt, respectively.

As part of the second 10,000 megawatt power plant project, the government also plans to build 43 geothermal power plants across the country, which will have combined capacity of 3,967 megawatt.

The projects will include PLTP Seulawah Agam and Jaboi, each with capacity of 1x55 MW and 1x7 MW, in Aceh, PLTP Sarulla 1 (3x110 MW),Sarulla 2 (2x55 MW), and Sorik Merapi (1x55 MW) in North Sumatra, PLTP Muaralaboh (2x110 MW) in West Sumatra, PLTP Lumut Balai and Rantau Dadap, each with a capacity of 4x55 MW dan 2x110 MW in South Sumatra, PLTP Sungai Penuh in Jambi with capacity of 2x55 MW, PLTP Hululais with capacity of 2 x 55 MW in Bengkulu, PLTP Rajabasa di Lampung (2x110 MW) and Ulubelu 3, 4 (2x55 MW) in Lampung.
