The government is planned to develop floating solar farm pilot project in Situ Muara, 13 km away from Bali?s Ngurah Rai airport, starting in 2016, the Directorate General of New Renewable and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The capacity of the solar farm is not determined yet, EBTKE Director General Rida Mulyana said.
He noted that the development of the solar farm will be carried out simultaneously with the rooftop solar power project at the airport, which is designed to have a capacity of 4 MW.
He said the government is likely to directly appoint a state owned enterprise (SOE) to develop the project, noting a regulation is being drafted to allow direct appointment of SOEs to develop energy infrastructures.
