Govt to build hydropower plant in Krayan

The government through State Ministry for Acceleration Development of Backward Regions plans to build a hydropower plant in Krayan, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, according to a senior official.

Secretary of the ministry M Nurdin said the 7,000 MW hydropower plant will be realized during the 2014 state budget year.

"Krayan was chosen as the location of hydropower plant due to its proximity to Sarawak State of Malaysia and is quite potential for investment," he said as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia on Friday.

He added Krayan has water resources which suitable for the development of hydropower plant in Krayan and South Krayan. (*)
