Govt to connect 4m households with city gas network by 2024

The government has set an ambitious target to connect 4 million households with city gas network (Jargas) by 2024, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) said.

The 4 million household connections (SRs) program will be funded by State Budget.

Expert staff of the MEMR Yudho Dwinanda Priaadi said the development of the city gas network program aims to increase utilization of gas by domestic market as well as at the same time cut LPG imports.

The city gas network program began in 2009. So far, hundred thousands of households in various cities have been connected with the city gas network program.

To support the program, the government will invite private sector players to take part in the development of gas infrastructure.
