Govt to decide price of natural gas for fertilizer industry

The government is expected to conclude next month a new special price of natural gas for the national fertilizer industry to allow farmers to buy fertilizers at cheaper prices, according, director general for chemical, agriculture, and forest product industries of the ministry of trade and industry Zainal Arifin.
He was quoted by the Suara Karya daily, however, as saying that the government might not be able to meet the US$1.3 per mmbtu price demanded by the fertilizer industry because of the high cost in gas exploration activity.
