Govt to develop nine more geothermal power plants

Sugiharto Harsoprayitno, the director for geothermal at the ministry?s directorate for renewable and energy conservation, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that his office would proposed nine more geothermal fields for further development in order to meet the target.
Five of the nine geothermal fields have been proposed to the ministry energy and mineral resources for working area approval. They include the Bonjol field in West Sumatra, with a capacity of 200 MW, the Danau Ranau in Lampung with a potential capacity of 210 MW, the Mataloko prospect in East Nusa Tenggara with a capacity of 63 MW, the Ciremei field in West Java with a capacity of 150 MW, and Gunung Endut in Banten with a capacity of 80 MW.
Sugiharto said that the four other fields were now under initial survey. They include the Way Ratai field in Lampung with capacity of 194 MW, the Simbolon Samosir field in North Sumatra with a capacity of 225 MW, Sembalun prospect in West Nusa Tenggara wih a potential capacity of 120 MW and the Telomoyo field in Central Java with a capacity of 92 MW.
