Govt to directly appoint coal-fired power plant developers

The government will possibly appoint PT Bakrie Brothers, PT Bukaka and PT Medco Energi and several other companies without tender to build coal-fired power plants all over the country, the Koran Tempo newspaper reported in its Wednesday edition.
The daily said that among the companies that would be appointed including JSX-listed energy firm Medco Energi, Bakrie & Brothers and Bukaka, which is controlled by Kalla family.
The government has plan to undergo crash program to build around 10,000-MW of coal fired power plants across the archipelago in three years to cope with incerasing electricity demands. (*)
