The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will propose to the Ministry of Finance to cancel the planned coal export tax amid the lingering weak coal price, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.
The paper quoted Director General of Mineral and Coal at the ministry R. Sukhyar as saying that imposing the coal export tax would be a huge burden for coal miners, which have been struggling from falling price of the commodity during the past couple of years.
?Now is not the right time to impose such policy. This is what will be proposed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to the Ministry of Finance,? Sukhyar said. (*)
