Govt to form team to study coal gas use at Duri steamflood

Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo said that the government will form special team to study the possibility to replace natural gas by gas generated from coal (coal gas) at Chevron?s Duri steam flood facility in Central Sumatra.
Evita said that natural gas that is currently supplied by ConocoPhillips? Corrdidor block in South Sumatra can be sold to state gas distribution firm PT PGN (Persero) if the conversion program succeeded.
Evita said the government is looking for coal source that can be converted to coal gas with the volume of 150 MMCFD.
She did not give detail.
Gas from Corridor block is used by Chevron to pump out heavy crude at its Central Sumatra oil fields.
PGN is screaming for more gas as demand from industrial users far outstripped supply. (bernard)
