Govt to introduce new feed in tariffs for renewable-energy electricilty

The government will introduce new feed in tariff (FIT) scheme as incentives to promote investment in renewable energy production, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik said in his 100-day program.

Speaking to reporters last week, Jero said that the FIT scheme will be stipulated in the revised version of the minister?s decree No. 31/2009 on the price of electricity purchased by state electricity company PLN from small and medium scale power producers.

?The price for power produced by biomass-based power plant will, for example, be increased,? he said, adding that the price of electricity from biomass power plants is currently set at Rp 656 per kilowatt hour (kWh).

In the draft revision of the regulation, the price of electricity from biomass and biogas power plants would be raised to Rp 975 power kWh, and Rp 1,050 for waste power plants (zero waste) and Rp 850 for waste power plants (landfill).

Meanwhile, for Kalimantan, Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), the price of electricity for biomass and biogas power plant will be raised to Rp 1,170 per kWh, Rp 1,260 for waste power plants (zero waste) and Rp 1,020 for waste power plants (landfill).

For Maluku and Papua, the FIT for biomass and biogas will be raised to Rp 1,267.5 per kWh, Rp 1,365 per kWh for city waste power plants (zero waste) and Rp 1,105 for city waste power plans (landfill). The existing tariff is set at Rp 650 per kWh for medium voltage and Rp 1,004 per kWh for high voltage in West Java and Bali.

While in Sumatera and Sulawesi, the price was set at Rp 787,2 per kWh and Rp 1,204.8 per kWh, and for Kalimantan and East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara was set at Rp 852.8 per kWh and Rp 1.305.2 per kWH and for Maluku and Papua was set at Rp 984 per kWh and Rp 1,506 per kWh.

Djajang Sukarna, Secretary of the Director General for New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, said the revision of the regulation is ready. His office is now waiting for the signing of the regulation by the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik.
