Govt to offer 46 oil and gas blocks this year

The Indonesian government will offer this year 46 working areas of conventional oil and gas (WK), which are expected to increase the national production in the future.

Of the total, 41 blocks will be offered through direct offer mechanism, while the other 5 blocks through regular tender process, the directorate general of oil and gas of the energy and mineral resources ministry said in a press statement on Thursday.

The blocks to be put on direct offer are 6 working areas onshore, 28 working areas offshore, and 9 working areas onshore-offshore. The other five to be put on regular tender are one working areas onshore, and four offshore.

The government offers oil and gas working areas twice a year as an effort to increase the oil and gas reserves so that it can sustain the oil and gas production.

Last year, the government offered 42 working areas of conventional oil and gas, consisting of 30 working areas through direct offer, and 12 working areas through regular tender.
