Govt to offer new oil, gas blocks

The government would offer 18 new oil and gas blocks to investors later this month, a senior official at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said on Monday.
Director General of Oil and Gas Luluk Sumiarso said that government would offer the new 18 blocks through a direct offer mechanism.
?It will be announced at the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) event on May 27-29 this year,? he said.
In December 2007, the government offered 26 oil and gas blocks including 21 through a regular tender mechanism and five through a direct offer mechanism, but the winners of tender has not been announced yet. (Bernard)
