Govt to offer railway projects in coal mining areas to private investors

The government will invite private investors to participate in railway projects in East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Jambi and Banten provinces for the transportation of coal in the areas, the Bisnis Indonesia newspaper reported in its Thursday edition.
The projects, which aims to transport coal in the coal-rich provinces, are in the planning stage.
At present, according to Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation Soemino Eko Saputro, the government will conduct feasibility studies in East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and Jambi provinces in order to know the economic value of the railway projects.
The results of the feasibility studies are expected to raise interest of investors to participate in the projects.
The government expects to offer the projects to private investors at the end of the July. (*)
