Govt to prioritize condensate for local market

The government has decided to prioritize the sale of national condensate output to meet the local demand, particularly demand from petrochemical industry, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) said on Wednesday.
Director General of Oil and Gas at MEMR A Edy Hermantoro recently held a meeting on with top officials from the Directorate of Downstream Chemical Industry and the Directorate of Basic Chemical Industry, both at the Ministry of Industry; the Directorate of Imports at the Ministry of Trade and petrochemical companies such as PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI), PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical, PT Bina Bangun Wibawa Mukti and the Association of Indonesian Olefin, Plastic and Aromatic Industries. During the meeting, they agreed to prioritize the sale of domestically-produced condensate on the local market.
The largest buyers of condensate in Indonesia are TPPI and Chandra Asri.
The meeting also sought to identify problems that could be faced in the sale of domestic condensate production on the domestic market.
The meeting also agreed to form a task force called Team for Optimizing the Utilization of Condensate Domestically with the task of ?bridging the interest of producers and users?. The team, facilitated by the Ministry of Industry will have officials from the Ministry of Industry, MEMR and Ministry of Trade as supervisors.
The team is supposed to be established in ?the fourth week of September 2013?, according to MEMR in its website.
